Export the last 1–3 months from your bank's online portal as CSV or Excel. We'll classify every line as a Need, Want, or Savings — you can override anything we get wrong.

How to export from your bank Most major Australian banks (CBA, Westpac, NAB, ANZ, ING, Macquarie) let you export transaction history as CSV from the web portal — usually under "Transactions" → "Export." Pull 1–3 months of your main spending account. Got multiple accounts? Drop all the files in at once — joint account, personal account, credit card. Don't have access? Switch to "Type It In" instead.

Type it in

Three numbers. Be honest with yourself — round up if you're guessing. Underestimating your wants is the most common (and most expensive) mistake.

Your after-tax take-home, per month. Combined household if relevant.

Rent/mortgage, utilities, groceries, transport, insurance, minimum loan repayments.

Dining out, subscriptions, takeaway, hobbies, holidays, anything you'd survive without.
